About Us
Our Caring
Building Better Communities
American Cement Company is dedicated to building strong communities and making a positive difference where we live and work. We are actively involved in our communities through contributions, partnerships, and volunteerism.
At American Cement Company we provide the opportunity and encourage our employees to donate their time to both local and national philanthropic organizations, outreach programs, and other charitable functions. This gives our team members the opportunity to positively impact others and improve their own well-being.
Adopt-A-Highway
Our surroundings are extremely important to American Cement Company, so we take the time throughout the year to clean up our local highway. Our employees will volunteer their time over a weekend to join in on the fun and help pick up the debris left alongside County Road 470.

Earth Day 2010
American Cement understands the importance of ensuring a sustainable future for the youth of tomorrow. For Earth Day 2010, American Cement employees collaborated with Sumter County Youth Center to raise awareness of this special day and educate the students on the importance of taking care of our Earth. The students participated in planting flowers and trees at the local youth center and learned how they each can make a difference by recycling, picking up trash, using less water and turning off lights. The day was full of fun learning activities for all to enjoy.

Education
Education is the utmost importance to American Cement Company. We involve ourselves in various philanthropic acts concerning teaching and culturing students. Our company contributed 4,000 pounds of cement to students at the University of South Florida for research projects and class studies.
American Cement Company provided school supplies to guarantee students in the Sumter County School District had the tools and resources necessary to succeed in the classroom. Although it is extremely important to donate physically demanded items, we feel donating our time is equally as vital. American Cement Company employees reached out to a local high school to participate in their annual Science Fair. Our Laboratory department offered their workspace to local students and teachers, while several employees volunteered their time to judge the Science Fair. We feel it is essential to foster the minds of our youth because they are our future.
Cancer Research
American Cancer Society's - Relay for Life
As a strong advocate in supporting cancer research, American Cement Company employees have participated in the Sumter County's Relay for Life program. This 16 hour event brought our employees together to show support for those who have lost a loved one to cancer, who currently battle cancer and for those who have won the fight against cancer. In 2010, our second year of participation, we had an even stronger turnout from our American Cement employees and family members to show support for this worthy cause. Through a pizza fundraiser, raffles, box car races, candy guesses and donations American Cement Company raised over $1,800 for Relay for Life and American Cancer Society. We look forward to participating in another Relay in 2011.

Susan G. Komen Foundation
In 2009, American Cement Company started the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign during the month of October. Employees, family and friends joined the fight against Breast Cancer through various activities during the month of October. Shirts, hats, and stickers were worn by our employees to bring attention to this wonderful cause. We were able to raise $2,200 for the Susan G. Komen foundation and donated our t-shirts to the women's shelter to help provide for those in need.
